The Shell Museum, the only one in the US, is a great stop where you'll learn about the mollusks that leave behind the beautiful seashells of Sanibel on our stunning beaches!
Be aware of your surroundings at all times, as you may encounter some members of our wildlife during everyday activities. Remember, don’t get near or feed alligators—this is not Disney! Also, avoid feeding the birds on the beach, and always protect your belongings, especially anything shiny. They’ll swoop down and take anything interesting, including your food if your cooler is left open.
Shopping is back in full swing! You won't want to miss our unique island shops, each offering a delightful beach vibe -- some old, some new -- and they are plentiful! The Chamber maintains a current list of everything that's open, so click the picture to link to their list. To get you going, start with The Village Shops, Periwinkle Place, Tahitian Gardens, The Shops at Jerry's, or any of the amazing stand-alone boutiques and art galleries. Rachel Pierce, who created our beautiful mural at the clubhouse, has several shops that cover all your art, home goods, and pet needs. You'll find everything here, from fine jewelry with a "Sealife" theme at Congress Jewelers, Fishing supplies at Sanibel Fly Outfitters, and even the original Chico's store at Periwinkle Place!
